The Guernsey trip
Every other year The Guernsey Cream Club visits Guernsey not only to sample the Guernsey atmosphere but also to get away completely. A visit will be paid to the Dairy and the local ice-cream maker who can boast of some 80 full-blooded Guernsey cows, grazing in the meadow. Each cow bears a given name and the ice-cream maker/ farmer is able to distinguish all the different cows.
The club will also spend a day on Sark, the last feudal area in Europe. This small island has not been changed since Mediaeval times. You can still feel the magic of long bygone days.
The boat trip, which takes some forty minutes, is quite an enterprise. At worst, a turbulent sea and wind force 8. At best, a turbulent sea with wind force 7.
From a culinary point of view, Guernsey is a top attraction. The French cuisine is very much prevalent and it is especially the meals that will never be forgotten.
Until 2007 it has been the ice-cream makers who went. Now that 2007 and 2008 have seen such an increasing number of restaurants (see members), it is now the turn of the headchefs to empty their minds and focus on the infinite beauty of it all.
